Corte Madera Victorian Cottage

This project is a full renovation of a more than 100-year-old Victorian cottage in Corte Madera, thoughtfully designed to preserve its original charm and architectural character while introducing the comfort and functionality needed for modern family life.

The comprehensive remodel is relocating the kitchen and reconfiguring the breakfast nook, family room, bar, laundry room, powder room, primary bedroom and bathroom and children’s bedrooms and bathrooms to create a more functional and cohesive layout throughout the home.

Guided by the clients’ desire for “no white walls,” we are embracing color, warmth and materiality, using the cottage’s historic details as the foundation for a deeply customized interior. Each room is being treated as its own design opportunity, layered with custom millwork, distinctive tile patterns, natural materials and finely crafted details that create a sense of discovery from one space to the next.

A rich, curated palette is connecting the rooms while allowing each space to have its own identity. Once complete, the home will feel warm, comfortable and collected, highly personal and memorable, yet durable and practical enough to stand up beautifully to the rhythms of a busy family.
